Here is a Browning BDA 380, made in 1979. This 12-6 prohibited handgun will be sent to a gunsmith to have a threaded restricted barrel installed, then re-registered as a restricted firearm. The previous owner bought it new in 1979 and only fired a few shells through it. As much as I don't like altering classic guns like these I do not want to see it turned into the authorities for destruction upon my demise.

This nickel plated Browning BDA380 was re-barrelled and re-registered as a restricted firearm earlier this year.

All that restricted vs prohibited thing is all bull####... Just like an auto knife is not deadlier than a fixed or folder. Real nice gun tho!

That's a real beauty! The Beretta-made Browning BDA 380 (or the similar Beretta Cheetah) has always been on my wanted listed, but something I've just never got around to buying.

You don't have to butcher it to make it non-prohib just yet, though. There are still plenty of "young" 12-6 people that will be around for a while, and the market for prohibs is still surprisingly good.

That's for sharing this. Really neat guns, kind of sad the BDA and BDM's never caught on they were very good designs and quality made.

I'm going to go against the grain here (sorry!) and say that it's disappointing to see a cool, classic pistol modified like that. There are plenty of 12.6 owners left in the country so unless you ended up being the last one it could've gone to another 12.6 owner in its intended form. It's a long, long way from being headed to the smelter.
