Hello, I just bought a nice semi-auto 12g and would love to get out and try one of these shooting sports. I am interested in trying out skeet or trap or whatever, I really dont know a whole lot about any of it, and would like a place to learn. Is there anywhere near Red Deer to do this? Thank you.

In addition to the excellent above mentioned facilities, I suggest you try the Lone Pine Clay Target Club. It is located between Olds and Bowden on Wimborne Road about 1 km east of hwy #2. It offers skeet and trap.

Not sure if i should add another thread here or not, but I might as well ask here: can any one recommend any good books, videos or websites about getting started in trap or skeet? Or is it one of those things you really just need to get out and try?

I haven't been to the other clubs mentioned here, but Silver Willow is a great place.

I took a 2 hour lesson from Stu Carter when I got my Vinci. We did a round of sporting clays and I learned a ton.

Well worth the little extra $

I am sure that the little extra will turn out to be worth a lot extra. Wise move on your part:D
 
A video related skeet shooting is Todd Bender's Winning with the Fundamentals of Skeet produced by Sunrise. Just google it. As a relatively new shooter it helped me. However there is no subsitute for practice. At any of the clubs mentioned here you will meet shooters who will be pleased to offer advice. Good luck.
