A Comparative Review of Four Precision/Tactical Bolt Rifles - with a price edit

Thanks for the nice comments guys - I'm pleased you found it interesting. A couple of answers for you:

Kirk930 - The load the TRG likes the best is a 175g SMK over 44.6 Varget with a COAL of 2.84

Machinist - Chris, no problem at all - I'm very happy for your to put Mr. Coyote to the test; I'd like to see what a better driver than I can get out of this rifle !

Mystic - Thanks Jerry - maybe this summer we can figure something out.

Cheers all,

Bob.

good review just one question. Is the camo on the coyote stock painted? I have a desert camo from mcmillan like that and it's molded like the marble.

Thanks

I would have preferred a factory adjustable comb rather than a saddle but the work of installing the saddle has been well done. The paintwork on the stock is acceptable but isn't as nice as when the colour is moulded in and the finish isn't quite as nice as on the same A5 stock that Kimber supplies its rifle in (see below).

Tomochan,

Exellent review. Just to clear a couple of tpints up for you, the saddle is installed at McMillan. Also, the colour on your Coyote's A5 is not painted on. It's also moulded in by McMillan while the stock is being manufactured, just like the Kimber.

Thanks for taking the time to do this write up. I was in Shooters Choice and they had a Kimber in the rack. I had never seen one before and was impressed with the "feel" of the rig. From what you have reported, the accuracy seems to be lacking for the price and their guarantee. Got to hate it when that happens.

Great review. BUT, the group sizes in the picture are wrong. The coyote, trg, and the remington target are not correct. The Kimber appears to be fine. You did not measure them correctly. Sorry to rain on your parade. I really did enjoy reading it though. Thank you.

Good eye!

Groups appear to have been measured center to center and then the bullet diameter subtracted from that measurement

I guess thats one way to get your rifle to shoot in the .1's :p
