Happy to report the arrival (finally!) of a couple of prohib 12(5) rifles that I bought at Switzer's Auction house back in August. Three months to process a couple of "no-brainer" 12(5) factory semi-auto rifle Registration Transfers is a whole new level of inefficiency courtesy of the Canadian Firearms Program. But I digress, they are here at long last.

First up is an unfired, mint-condition, early-import Daewoo KC20 rifle, the semi-automatic utility/sporting variant of the South Korean K2 select-fire service rifle. The proof of its unfired status is the pristine Gas Piston....

Next up is an equally mint, nearly unfired HK93 - the semi-automatic utility/sporting variant of the HK33 select-fire assault rifle. Note the 5/25, 5/30 and 5/40 Magazines on the various iterations of the modular HK rifle. Optics to follow in due course:

A friend bought a Daewoo back in the day. It rapidly developed a chipped disconnector and starting firing doublets. Replaced the offending parts with one from an AR-15 - that fixed the problem.

Daewoo - $1600 plus $240 Buyer's Premium

HK93 - $2300 plus $345 Buyer's Premium

That was a busy auction for 12(X) firearms, which attracted a lot of interest and competing bids. Clearly there is still a market for 12(X), just so long as there are still grandfathered owners looking to fill gaps in their collections. After that will come those looking to make a buck through deactivation and subsequeent sale as a piece of "wall-hanger art".

Of course bartok is rubbing his new prohibs in our faces right before Christmas. I briefly owned a Dewat HK33 which was unfortunately past the point of ever functioning again.

Dude, I paid for these back in August. Not my fault it took the RCMP 4 months to process a 5-minute, no-brainer piece of administrative paperwork....

I eyeballed that Daewoo pretty hard. I remember seeing them sell in the late 80s for what seemed like pretty reasonable prices, but I didn't know much about them, and anybody I asked just had bad things to say. Likely the same people would have deemed all import cars as "Jap Scrap" at the time.

In the end, I'm not that interested in competing pricewise for 12(5) guns. I'll pick them up if someone is trying to get rid of one. I hope you enjoy that one, Bartok.

Thats a decent price for the HK93. I just picked up a reasonably well used G3 for $2800.

It's interesting you got both stocks. My G3 is an A4 and so came with the collapsable stock, which In don't like so I had to source a fixed stock through Assteck.

Also I'm jealous of the bipod. Mine didn't come with one. I picked up an airsoft bipod, which fits differently from the real unit. I have managed to CAD model and 3D print a bipod mount but would need to get that part metal 3D printed if I can't get hold of the real thing. I have considered getting IRunGuns to bring one in from HK Parts in the US. There are a few other HK pieces I'd like to get hold of to make an order worthwhile.

It's like the RCMP are intentionally sitting on such transfers out of spite. I had to call up our CFO to get the G3 transfer pushed through because some azzhole out east was sitting on the transfer for no reason whatsoever.

No reason for any licensed individuals to be barred from owning such things. These look like a blast, hopefully they get some lead down the pipe sooner or later!
