I was driving down the road today and saw 5 wild boar out in a field so I thought I would pull over and take a pic or two.

I assume they didn't like me taking their pic because they started to run along the field road towards me.

Two of them came off the field road and towards me for some stupid reason.

Pigs ain't too smart. They don't have much for brains.

They are small pigs and should be tasty.

17 Remington Fireball incase you were wondering.

November 2010 my buddy had a LEH draw out Nazko way and had pictures of a huge boar crossing the road...
There is a debate amongst the BCHunting croud whether you can legally shoot one of these things on Crown land though.
Of course each Province has their own laws so yours may varry.
Did they get any closer ?

In Sask they are considered a nuisance and it's shoot on sight. I shot those at about 40-50 yards.

European wild pigs, in their native habitat are very wary animals. Nice to see that they are not completely nocturnal here like they are over there. Congratulations on getting those two! I would not have thought of the 17 Rem FB as an effectuive pig hunting round, but good shooting gets results! That will be some fine eating.

AWESOME!!! :D

There was a boar shot west of where I live that was about 3-3.5' at the shoulder. I don't know what it weighed. That's one big oinker.

It is always open season on pigs here in Manitoba. No license required. I have seen a few around home here but have yet to hunt them.
One of my neighbors shot a purebred Russian Razorback male in a farmyard 1/2 mile from my place. I think it weighed 370 or so lbs.
It was such an unusual size that some guys from the U of M came out to examine it and do a DNA test.
There was a photo and writeup in one of the local newspapers.

Nice! I see enough of these types of threads to wonder if the wild boar will permenantly take root here in Canada? It sure would be neat to hunt them!

Cheers
Jay
