a couple of question about mossy 500 and Rem 870

Hi folks,
I bought a Norc 14" barrel (just for the feature of having a 14" barrel) and I found it really too heavy for my taste. Now I'm looking for a 20 ga. pump OR semi.
Here's my questions:

Is it the same receiver use in the 870 20ga and the 870 12ga? If so, it seem to me that it will be about the same weight.

Which is lighter considering the same configuration (barrel lenght, stock etc.) the 870 or the mossberg 500? Is it the same between each gauge and by how many pound?

Does anyone ever use a Mossberg 500 Bantam? Is it the same gun as the ordinary 500?

Which 20ga autoloader is the best for tactical conversion? I'm looking for mossberg or remington (or maybe you have suggestion?).

not sure how much you have shot a shotgun, but light is not so good.
light gunsmakes for heavy hitting recoil.
Thats why my company made an adaptor to let you use the rem 870 model of knoxx comp stock on the Fabarms line of pumps and semi shotguns.
Because they are very light guns, they kick like hell.
if your going standard set up with your stocks, take the heavy gun.
 
Since weight is a concern for me and recoil too, this is why I want to go for a 20ga shotgun. I just don't know which one. It will be carry a lot and I will use for hunting grouse too. In fact, this is the one I will take with my ATV. But when I'm walking into the wood, I want protection for black bear. I already have a 12ga SxS but I want to put ghost ring on my 20ga carry shotgun.
 
This is the kind of comment that encourage me. I just finish to read an article in Guns & Weapons for law enforcement that talk about a Vang comp 20ga 870 tactical and it say that the shotgun weight 5.5lbs unloaded with a 18.5" ventilated rib barrel, ghost ring sight and a 4 shots side saddle. Considering that Vang comp is probably unobtainable here, I think that I can modify a 20ga 870 to look and feel like that one without the feature of a Vang comp barrel; and at this weight, this is one for me!!!

The Mossberg 500 20ga is built on a smaller receiver as well. It should be a bit lighter than a similar 870 because the Mossberg reciever is aluminum, not steel. The Bantam uses the same reciever as the regular 500, but a youth size stock and I think a shorter barrel as well.
 
Anyone have actually handle both shotgun in 20ga?? What are you opinion? I'm living in a place where it is very difficult to handle what I want. There is not a lot of choices.
 
I've handled and shot both in 12ga. They both fit me about the same, but I prefer the tang safety of the Mossberg and it was less expensive as well.

I would think that the 12ga models will fit you similar to the 20ga models, so handle them in 12 if you can't find them in 20ga. Fit will greatly affect how much recoil you feel. I used to have a bolt action 20ga that recoiled harder than my 12 ga. I traded it off and bought a Stoeger coachgun in 20ga and I barely notice the recoil from it.
