A couple questions about Moss. 930...

I was one of the lucky few to get an actual 930 SPX (less than 15 I believe the numbers were) when MilArm first ordered these some time ago. No more to come though :(

The only difference from the Home Security vs the SPX was the Fibre op front sight tower. On the SPX the FO front sight, receiver rail, ghost ring rear sight, and +2 mag tube was standard.

You can purchase everything but the barrel with the winged front sight tower, from site sponsors and vendors.

Part for part, they are identical.

You got the real deal, Sweet, O.K. then it's just mine that's a Home Security, with Vang comp sights [front sight is Tritium] and +1 mag ext, which is soon to be replaced with a +2 blocked correctly of course.

I'd like to get some tritium inserts for the front sight tower :(

Hey, there is a Home security in the EE right now if anyone is interested (not mine!)

What is the difference between the standard 930 and the Home Security model (85320)? Just the barrel length?

They also have a 18.5" and a 28" field combo too but not sure if it is readily available.

You could replace it with a Trijicon RE04 front sight but it would cost. I paid $130 at Italian Sports for both the front and rear. I still have the rear as I managed to get an LPA rear. I also picked up the Dlask charging handle. Still waiting for the gunsmith install of that front and rear sight though but it will be worth the wait.

Any one know where I can get a piece of picatinny rail for just in front of the LPA sight I am putting on? I will need a custom length...

Eeep $130... May need to think about that one.. Made too many big purchases in the last two weeks...

Called EE and they don't have one in stock..

Mring, when I said "EE" I meant in the "Equipment Exchange" not "Elwood Epps" sorry about that confusion :)

It's under the Shotgun subforum!.

The 930 blows away an 870 hands down. I worked both guns hard. The 930 is a scatter machine-gun. However, i don't care for mossberg's silly muzzle breaks. The 930 security model 18.5 regular barrel has a plain bead and no goofy muzzle attachment. The upside of the 870 is the abundance of parts and configurations. Really can't compare it to an autoloader that works no matter what ammo you're using.

I just bought one. I emailed Frontier wondering when they'd get another HS model in, and they said "oh we just got one today". #######s made me buy it. HAHA....

Oh well... Thing I like about guns is, they never go down in value (don't take my word for it, check the EE!). If I ever come on hard times, I can sell it for 85% of what I purchased it for....

Considering a replacement barrel would run you over 200 bucks the HS/field combo 930 is a smoking deal. Epps is taking their sweet time shipping my shotty.

I got the thing today and the receiver pins were all rusted and so was the bolt handle!!
I'm sure it didn't come from the factory like that. The rust was bleeding out onto the outside of the receiver. Damn, guys at Epps ever check ever what they're shipping?
It's only took about 10 minutes to take it down and clean. A new gun should never been shipped in that condition.
damn!

Trying to get my Christmas list together, and I have an 870 at the top, then I started thinking about a semi...

Those FN's look pretty sweet, but haven't found any up here yet. So, the 2 main choices for me were (are?) the 1100 vs the 930. Have heard great things about the Mossberg, inlcuding price and that it can take both 2 3/4 + 3" round compared to the 1100's 2 3/4 only. For those 2 reasons alone, I am doing as much reseach as I can...

A Canadian 'hands-on' review would be really good. One thing to be shooting in the Arizona desert, but to hear how it works North of the border is in order.

The big difference between Remington and Mossberg autoloaders is the price.
Mossberg wins for value, especially with their combo deals.( I've only seen one mind you)
Ammo issues come second. The 930 will eat everything including the cheap universals.
My 1100 would sometimes and my 11/87 only works with magnum loads.
The 930 loads way faster than all my shotguns. Also, It can dump the whole mag with one push of the carrier release button by manipulating the bolt and pushing the elevater in the up position with out smacking your thumb with the ejecting shells.

I personally think you should call Epps about a partial retroactive refund or credit. That rust is unbelievable. I'd be quite dismayed if my BNIB firearm showed up like that.

Does Epps have a range at their location? It looks like the gun was fired( more than factory test fired) in wet conditions and thrown back in the box.

Well that's not good is it.
Looks like you got a used gun.
I'd send it back ask for another one

Well, it's all cleaned up now. I had a hard time finding the security combo gun. They only had one. I really don't want to ship it back. Im going to get another from a local dealer. I'll call Epps tomorrow and complain. The problem I have is eastern shops are all closed when I get home from work. I've had it out hunting already. The thing is just awesome. Cycles everything great. Even the short barrel works with cheap loads.
