a couple questions regarding my m1 garand

picked my garand up a year or so ago shot it once it was a blast. stuck it in the safe and didnt touch it since. i looked at it today and fidured id jump online aand figure out the origin of it as ive done with my other milsurps.

so what i know is its a winchester garand the rear sight is a T105E1 (not sure what that means)
its a springfield stock with a mismatched upper rear wood piece with only a P stamp on the pistol grip
serial number reads 1,241,008 which i have dated to 1942 june - october

the blueing on the gas system is pretty warn but overallvery good condition good bore i picked it up for 800 from a guy that didnt no much about it. im curious to know the value of it and if there are any other things look at or research to be more accurate in my ability to describe it.
 
It is likely a post WWII rebuild or a put together rifle. Your rear sight is post war.

What are the bolt, trigger group, barrel and op rod marked? The P on the stock does not mean its SA.

Regardless, $800 was a steal!

The gas cylinders were not blued; they are stainless steel. Various finishes were tried during the war and they are mostly all worn down to the SS. Your rear ring should be round without a flat spot if it is WRA.

bolt sn is 028287-12 sa
oprod sn 6535382 sa
dont see anything on the barrel where do i look?

also not to clear how to post pics on here i just use email mostly
 
The barrel would be marked on the op rod side if it was manufactured by SA or most others. WRA barrels are marked on top (under the handguard) but you can make out their logo on the op rod side.

Your rifle definately went through one or more rebuilds but this is a not a bad thing. Check the stock for a rebuild stamp.
 
1,241,008 is Feb 1943 production for Springfield Mass. This link is very accurate for production dates for all US Garand. Lots of info, even the Springfield Armory - Winchester Duplicate WW2 Serial Ranges. A component list of DWG numbers by manufacture and DWG by manf / year.
