Harder to find barrels that long, especially as a take off.

I am eventually going to build a 32 Smith and Wesson Long, using a take off 30 cal barrel, but it's going to be more like 20" max.

I'm just finishing up a 45 colt single shot, on my own action, I'll post up pics in a different thread when I'm done.

Jeez guys...I think he’s been flamed to charcoal by now. I’d sort of rather read and see pics from the OP every post, not one from the OP then 2 or three flame posts...
 
Had a hiccup.
Wanted to go with larger barrel thread (15/16 x 16)so had to build up the top of the receiver and mill to shape.

That is all for a while.
Have to send the barrel off to be modified, will be converted to 17 Hornet, and possibly octagon"ized".
Will lose about one inch to cut off old fireball chamber.
Here is the barrel and action. Trigger has been moved back about 1/4 inch, love my mig machine!

I agree! Seeing what it takes to actually build something ones self, watching the problem solving and creative thinking behind each part... best use of the internet ever!

One mount on the action, one soldered to the barrel, a front ramp for looks?

It sounds like something a CFSC instructor would say... I know mine repeatedly mentioned licensed gun smiths and indicated they were the only people who could service firearms.

I agree, you are probably right. I never took the CFSC course, but back when I took my hunters safety course (1986), the instructor stated that Winchester 94 Trappers were restricted firearms. Some other mis-information as well, but I don't re-call what.

Well, here I go again.
Been busy doing other things, and trying get in as much range time as possible.
But managed to rough out the fore-end wood, and attach a pair of scope mounts.
Extractor works.
Next is a firing pin, and then.....maybe..
