Looking for a Reticle red dot in particular for my m14. My budget would be around 3-400 bucks. Any decent brand that can withstand this jack hammer of a rifle?

thanks for the help.

I like the 1 MOA dot inside the big circle that is standard with EOTech.
It's fast, and you can be fairly precise.

I'm using an Eotech 518, has 2 dots in its reticle. 1st dot is 0 to 100m, 2nd dot is 300m. Never had any issues, even when I swap it with my PA 4-14 it still holds its zero.

Exactly, nothing to lose.
Have you tried a sparc?

Not on an M-14.... The one I used to have died on an AR in .223.....

I actually "rate" the Bushy TRS-25 a little higher than the Vortex IMHO....

All told I have sent 5 different vortex's back for warranty.... For the price, I'm pretty disappointed. 3 scopes, a strike fire and a Sparc.

They do have fantastic glass, but when you loose the recticle it doesn't really seem to matter.....

I just received a brand spanking new replacement Viper PST 6-24 FFP EBR-2. Great scope, awesome glass. Repeatable turrets.... A+ specs.....
But it didn't last 30 rounds.....

M-14s are hard on scopes!

That's a lot of duds for sure.... :(

Forgot to mention this red dot would be mounted on a m14.ca LSP rail.

A used Comp M2 or M3 could be around 400$ I guess. In a low ring you may not need the cheek riser. An Eotech or another AR sight would likely bring your heigth over bore to 3-4", not very desirable.

Off topic but why do you need so much top rail?
If it was my rifle and I wanted to use a reddot, I'd get a Ultimak or M14.ca SHG. It would allow to keep the great iron sights and cowitness with a low Aimpoint or micro reddot. And you'd save the weight of the extra rail and cheek riser.

Is it possible to co-witness M1A sights with a red dot using a micro type and the M14.ca hand guard ?

Been entertaining that idea but want to confirm before proceeding. Wasn't sure if even this setup would be a touch too high to pull it off.

I would choose a Holosun over a TRS-25 for a budget red dot. For a better quality optic, a used Aimpoint Comp M2, M3, or PRO in a low 30mm ring would be my choice. Typical Aimpoint mounts for an AR15 are too tall for an M14.

My TRS 25 on a m14.ca SHG is a lower 1/3 co-witness with the irons.

It works very well IMHO.

Really ? Wow, wouldn't have guessed. Everything is typically so damn high on an M14.

This is great news. I'll be proceeding with that setup.

Thank you very much for the information.
