i was crawling through my gun safes looking for something yesturday and i took 5 minutes to take out each of my pistols, check them over, do a mag check, see if anything needed ordering for them all.
got to my Glock 17C and noticed it has some grunge in it.
then i got to thinking..... have i EVER cleaned my glock???

that answer is no.

i recall thinking years ago that i wanted to see how long it went before i noticed some failures.
and so its been a good 5 years (at least) and still none.

i recall i was doing the same with my M&P 9 but i caved in and cleaned it when i was cleaning a bunch of them.
totally forgot about the dirty gun test.

so, as much as i hate to give a nod to the glock cool-aid drinkers i must admit my glock is still purring like a kitten and a dirty as a..... well lets just say she is dirty.

i dont shoot it much anymore but i still do take it to the range a couple times a year.
so i will continue to leave it dirty until i start to get some failures, which may be a long time from now!!!

guess im just amazed by how these new guns can run dirty.
my old 22's would start to fail to eject and other such stuff after a couple 100 rounds.
probably has a lot to do with the fact that you can see through the frame and the biggest pieces of grunge can fall out, eh?

and a dirty as a..... well lets just say she is dirty.

This is where you are supposed to say "I wish my wife was this dirty!". :D

I agree with the Glock being a damned fine piece of work, though. They may be ugly and the plastic may not be as nice as walnut and blued steel, but they work pretty much every time in horrible conditions, with minimal maintenance.

I like to clean mine every 200 or so just so I don't get crap all over my hands when I'm playing with it.
She runs like a top no matter what I do.

I had to laugh- there were 509 views of this thread when I became the 510th. Good thread title!
