A Dollar/Pound Scrap Lead?

I was just talking to my brother about this. We decided it was better to take the battery in for 10 bucks and put the money into another source of scrap lead.. .even if you find scrap lead at a buck a pound imho it's a more economical source and use of time

Good plan.. Forget about salvaging battery lead. That's toxic waste dump stuff.

So 3/4 garbage 1/4 lead? Kinda like a lottery ticket I guess lol. I think this coming week I'm gonna pic 200lbs up and see "winner winner chicken dinner" lol

It's all over the place, or was. I've had buckets that were 90% and I have had buckets that were 30% lead. I personally would jump on a $0.20 and sort. Wheel weights are about the perfect lead for rifle bullets.

I had 3 5 gallon pails of wheel weights. After sorting I had 3/4 of a pail of steel, zink, and garbage. The rest was usable lead

I have a tire shop local that's been selling me 5 gallon pails full to the top for $20. I last bought two of them and each pail was 80-85% good usable lead. I'm quite happy

i dont know if its the same everywhere but around here powerline cable that runs down the pole is secured with heavy lead strapping at the top and bottom. whenever a cable goes up or comes down theres a couple of good chunks that could add up if you get a source

i got very luck last week and picked up 8 5 gallon pails. out of the 8 pails i managed to get 6 full pails of clip ons and half a pail of stick ons. I picked up 2 pails lastnight and it was 50% garbage . Its like playing the lottery. The smaller shops in the middle of no where usually have less but its typically mostly lead.
