Aparently this story was lost on you, The synopsis is that sometimes you have to put your own interests aside and swallow your pride to accommidate a young child in order to gain their interest.
And while doing so you realize that it was worth the sacrifice.

I have a very similar story to yours, with the exception that I had a pair of tags and took a fawn while my son was there, the first time I took him out. 2 Years later, he's hooked. I pull him out of school to deer hunt in the fall and turkey hunt in the spring. If that makes me a bad parent so be it. His smile says otherwise...
