The gun to judge all other revolvers against. Colt Royal Blue the best blue finish ever.
Colt nickel Pythons totally outclass the stainless versions made for the rabble crowd.
It breaks my heart to think of all those beautiful shortie Pythons going into the smelter one day... well in reality they’ll likely end up in some cops home safe. I used to work at a place where they destroyed firearms for the police and over the years I NEVER once saw anything nice go into that charging bucket.
Beautiful Colt collection there! Envy you with the 12-6 status, but I collect what I can. I do love the nickel Colt,...and bright stainless, and Royal blue....
This is a Colt New Service chambered in .45 Long Colt. This revolver was issued to the RNWMP. It formed part of a shipment of 250 revolvers forwarded to the Commissioner of the RNWMP on October 24th, 1919. It is stamped RNWMP along the backstrap and is referenced in Don Klanchers book “Arms and Accoutrements of the RCMP”.
The second revolver is a Colt New Service chambered in .45 Long Colt. It is stamped MP on either side of the lanyard swivel. The serial number dates this revolver to late 1930, issued to the RCMP “C” Division, Battleford, SK, 1930. Also listed in Klanchers book.
These both belonged to my dad who was a Mountie in the 1950’s.......now that he is gone they belong to me.
Seeing all these nice old Colts, I figured I'd share one of mine. 1926 Police Positive in .38 S&W. You can throw a rock harder than it shoots, but it's still a sweet old 92 year old gun....
