No doubt you tested these for your own ground conditions and they must work but I have a suggestion or two for anybody else building a similar setup. We at AFS have found that a stand similar to yours only works if it has a third toe that goes straight back (instead of a driven into the ground anchor as it appears in the photo that that is the way yours are). The base resembles a chicken foot. We have found that the driven anchors only work good in certain soil conditions, too sandy and they shoot loose, to hard and you can't get them in the ground far enough.

Also I would make the front forks a little longer so you can tilt the uprights forward a bit (quit a bit actually) to absorb impact better. This way the targets stay lined up as set a lot better. Standing too straight up with driven anchors to pivot on, they turn easily and you are forever shutting down to re-aline targets. Poorly alined targets can cause unpredictable splash-back to neighboring stages.

Additional pictures may help.

There is no portion of the stand that is driven into the ground.

Theses stands have been proven, they are additional to the ones already used on a regular basis at the club. You can check out the Winnnipeg Revolver and Pistol site for additional pictures of them in use, just go to the results and pictures are attached of each match. A side view of the stand explains angles better. They are very stable!!! You can't see it in my lawn but the taller stands have two legs forward 58" each. The two legs are mounted on the main shaft app. 3" from base to give a three point contact on the ground.

Suggestions always appreciated but they work fine as designed by owners. I built them to their specifications.

The picture is my backyard, ufortunately not the Selkirk club, but I wouldn't mind living there. My golf cart is in the picture for size reference. I set them up before customers picked them up.

Pictues of mount as requested.

Hi, They look great,
Are they a commercial venture and could be ordered from you?
The CAS range at Biggar (Sk.) will be purchasing 16X16 targets & stands this fall/winter for next years shooting season and are looking for a source.
Regards,
Doc

Do these targets not need to be shrouded out your guys way? They look nifty, but here in Ontario, they would need to be covered on top and on both sides if I am not mistaken. A simple enough thing to make for your nifty targets to slip right under/in between. They look great and probably make a big ole PING when hit.

You get the government YOU voted for!!

REALLY???? So that means I have a Libertarian Government who keeps their nose out of my business? Thanks man, I thought we had that Lieberal scum whom I have never voted for in my entire life, but you say I get the government I have voted for, jeez, I have to lay down. This is such a silly statement that gets thrown around. That's like saying that WE deserved Bill C-68 because WE voted for the Liberal Party of Canada. Only on a very RARE occasion do YOU actually get the government that YOU vote for (even if the party you voted for does get elected). WE didn't even get the Government that WE voted for Federally, even though the party we voted for won. Come on sir, you are much better than that, it cheapens us all.

Back on target....

Targets are really sweet. Nice going.
