With very wet weather on the way I woke this morning to the weatherman on the radio saying that it was -5 Celsius in upper Stewiacke. Even in the city it was dry and clear and there was a good frost down. If there was ever a day cut out for hunting pheasant over a flushing dog with a good nose this was it. Hmmmmmm….what to do? Booted up the computer, logged on at work and booked the morning off. I did not regret it…
Ruby hunted beautifully and put up a good number of birds for me. After a few that did not present safe shots (low over the dog, then crossing towards the farmhouse) I was rewarded for my patience with enough great flushes for me to pick out my finest pair of roosters to date. What a morning! Ruby is right on the money this year - only took me 5 years! lol!
