A flash hinder for an M3 carbine?????

This came on a gun that I bought....it was not correct for that piece but I kept it.

Bruce Canfield's comment.

This component was made solely for use with the carbines fitted with infrared night vision scopes. It was standardized in 1945 but few, if any, were actually used in the war. Most were made in the 1950s and some saw service with the infrared-scope carbines in Korea and later.

Before I bought this early M1A1 carbine...barrel dated Dec 42 this was one of the photos the seller sent me.

I sent photos to Bruce Canfield before I bought this M1A1 carbine and this is what he said.

From what I could tell, I didn't see anything out of line and it looks like a nice example. Original early M1A1s are very hard to find and congratulations on your find.

My question;
Bruce, currently there is a flash hinder on this gun, is this component totally irrelevant for this M1A1 carbine, and should it be removed?
Sn. 123829, barrel dated 12-42.

A flash hider wouldn't be "correct" for a M1A1 carbine.
I would recommend taking it off as it would be totally inappropriate on a M1A1 carbine.
