Got out today after putting together this fun little build, its my first takedown, I am definitely more of a bolt action guy but in this case a semi appealed to me. It was intended at a little small game woods gun so accuracy wasn't the first thing i had in mind but im very pleased with the way it handles and shoots. I only had time to test it with S&B standard 40gr LRN but they seemed to do fairly well out of it at 30 yards off bags. i think i may put a magnified optic on it to see what it shoots like at 50 yards. keep in mind the red dot is 2MOA and a 30 yards all but covers the black dots.

i had to put my shop sandals in there for a size comparison :)

all groups were shot at 30 yards, 5 shot groups and all are under .75" some measuring well under that. the trigger likely makes the biggest difference but im very pleased with the results thus for for a 9" barreled fun .22

Parts:
ruger receiver and bolt group
timney tigger group
magpul backpacker stock
adaptive tactical tac-hammer 9" barrel
holosun 2MOA micro

Very nice. I could see myself building something like that down the road. How does the Timney trigger group compare to the Kidd? I was thinking of swapping mine out.

I like the timney trigger more than the single stage kidd, both great triggers however I do prefer the kidd 2 stage. I picked up this trigger at a very good deal so I went with it over the kidd 2 stage. The timney also comes with 3 different trigger shoes and they are adjustable so that’s a plus.

Why not trim that rail and move the optic forward so it is more stable. No need for the optic to be that far back on that rail...

Nice build!

Cheers

Thanks. Who sells the Timney? I have a Kidd 2 stage in my 10/22 and was thinking of a single stage replacement for my take down.
