a glock i like..... never thought i'd say that

i have about 850 once fired brass and have a contact with factory ammo.... so no problem there. I could even cut some 45acp casings down and mic em to 19mm if i ever need to... got several thou of those :D I suppose you guys are right with the GAP meaning glock auto pistol... but the fellow walking me through the gun and ammo used the gap reference in describing the shortened case so.....
anyhow.... placed an order today... should see the new pistol in a few weeks i hope.

If someone gave me a G17, I would be happy, but I would seriously consider buying a G19 and I would also buy the 10mm Glock. The only other one might be the G26 for the cool factor, the .40cal, .45 GAP and .45acp version I take a miss on.

45 GAP is to 45ACP, like 40S&W is to 10mm.

While I'm not a huge fan of Glocks, only because they dont fit my hand well.
I appreciate the thought they put into the 45GAP. In fact I think Mr. Glock will be having the last laugh over this little invention.

From day one this little cartridge has been created and marketed for the LEO's and the like. If you think about it, its really quite smart on their part.
Many, many LEO's and various groups and been saying that they want more power than the 9mm offers, we hear it all the time. Many want to go back to the 45's, be it Glock in 45 or some other platform. The problem with the 45 has always been the size of the gun. Much like the problem with the original 10mm pistols, they are just so big(not to mention recoil in 10mm).

So the solution was to find a way to launch a 45 from a 9mm frame.
Enter 45 GAP.
What makes this even better for Glock is that they already have a HUGE chunk of the policing market in 9mm and 40S&W. Now they can offer the famous 45 man killing, baby saving, born in the USA bullet in a platform they are already familiar with. All Glock has to do is wait for a department to "life cycle" or upgrade the sidearms. Nobody has to learn a new platform, learn a new system, take a course, etc. In fact it really is no different than changing the contents of a pepper spray bottle.....the bottle stays the same.

Not quite!
10mm is a bit more powerful than .40S&W...

.45GAP is basically a .45aCP in a smaller package (.45ACP is WAY to big for the power it delivers) Gap is simply more size efficient.

10mm is more than a bit more powerfull than 40S&W.
40S&W is the ### and proud version of the original 10mm.

I was not comparing power, I should of been more clear.

For all those talking about how a round stopping power doesn't matter, it's a well known and extablished fact, that ANYONE shot with 45acp immediately explodes in a shower of sparks, regardless of shot placement. Whereas crack heads can absorb the the kinetic energy from 40s&w to transform into everyone's worst nightmare, Liberal voters. :runaway::runaway:

10 years from now, .45 GAP... will be long gone and forgotten.. other than having a Glock stamp on it..just doesnt offer anything really new that .40 or .45acp can offer as well.

I highly doubt that!

I'm not much of a .45 or Glock fan but GAP does offer an advantage over .45ACP - same performance in a smaller package! And with a Glock pushing it it's not going anywhere...I remember reading a little while ago about a number of US LEO agencies switching to .45GAP recently, in another place I've read that Glock practically gave away some of them.

delta police are using 45GAp now and many of the small handed shooters... many but not all are women.... are no longer having the grip issues related to 45acp pistols. i think this is an ingenious and well thought out plan from glock..... BUT... i wouldn't want it to replace the standard 45ACP round.. which i know it won't.
I personally prefer my 45acp in a 1911 platform... and that will never change.

Now, it's been awhile since I read the article, it was in a popular
firearms magazine.
The topic was based around these two cartridges, their similarities,
differences and then reloading was discussed.
In the end, the GAP is NOT the same case as the AUTO and can't
just be turned down to proper size. The angle and thickness of the
extracting groove differs slightly. There was a pic in the article that
proved this.

Maybe it doesn't matter and maybe someone has found a way around this,
but I remember the conclution being; you can't make GAP brass from
AUTO brass.

However, something to look into.
