A good evening at the range

Well,

A good night was just had by me. Using a local 50m range, I spent about 2 1/2 hours doing some assorted skills and drills practice for myself. Felt good.

Alas, no pics, but I started the evening by zeroing my .22 kit with the EOTech holosight, then I switched over to my Glock, did some draw/holster/mag-change drills to keep them current (it's summer, I shoot rifles in the summer....not pistols!)

Then I switched back to my AR, and did some standing snap practice with the full-bore kit, and spent about an hour alternating between uppers, running a couple of mags of .22 LR through the .22 upper, then swapping back to practice my standing Snap with the .223 upper.

Eventually, the sun went away, things got cool out, and I had to go digging for the brass.

Life is good. I fired approximately 100 9mm, 400 .22 LR, and 200 .223 (give or take)

So, it was much fun, and was my high point of the long weekend.

BTW, has anyone else noticed that the LAR-15 magazines (10 rnd) seem to have a much greater drag effect? Ie, I had trouble with the rounds not fully seating, and it seemed to be the LAR magazines, my other 5/30 mags did not exhibit any issues. I actually had to use the forward assist tonight to close the bolt a couple of times! The bolt did not seem to be scraping across the mag, since there were no visible scrape marks. However, when stripping rounds off the mag, it took a LOT of energy out of the bolt, enough so that the bolt was not fully closing.

We had run 10 LAR15 mags among friends, no issue at all, other than the short springs we had which were replaced by Questar promptly
