A Good General Purpose Optic For The AR15

Well fellers, I scammed some rings off another shooter and finally got the Leupold on...but the eye relief is brutal.

Greentips - you are right, I think I need to push the scope out further...I am still on irons for now, but I will prevail! Thanks for all the help fellas. I am off to check into all the options you gave.

Good luck. Most people will tell you to buy a Larue or ADM cantilever mount, they are very nice but quite pricey. Cheaper options are the Armalite 1 piece mount or the newer Burris PEPRhttp://www.burrisoptics.com/arpepr.html. It retails for around $70 in the US and has received some excellent reviews as an alternative to those who don't need the quick attach of the more expensive options.

I'm in the process of scoring an IOR short dot. I'm glad someone suggested an alternative to the Larue mounts.

Can you advise if there are any Canadian distributors for the Burris or Armalite mounts?

The Armalite mount I posted earlier came from Wolverine - great service, great guys I believe P&D also carries that mount, also excellent to deal with.

Although for the money you could get something "better", but if you find one at a good price its a great "little" optic.

Here is the Millet 1-4 DMS on my DPMS LR308 AP4,the mount is the Rock river arms 30mm.

AND it's sitting on a supressed SR25... WOW. What are your first impressions of the new Leupold? Is it all you expected it to be?

Also curious about this. Some of the threads from Snipershide and, by extension, Lightfighter, have been interesting. Possible $2k+ pricetag (USD, so god knows what CAD price might be), someone even posted a "quoted price" of $3800. We'll see. I wonder how much the Horus reticle adds to the price tag. All the right features seem to be there though. If it is priced competitively and is as tough as it looks, it should do quite well.

It sure does seem like alot of companies are introducing similar scopes though. I really want to try a March 1-10x24 but have never seen one come up here in Canada. Maybe something like this CQBSS or one of the similar offerings from S&B or Premier will be the next best thing.
