In an effort to save more money in this poor economy we live in today, I decided to sell my Beretta 686 and to purchase a cheaper shotgun to put aside some extra money. This became even more important when I got engaged one month ago.

Introducing, my new Fausti Conrad. I was going to buy a CZ-USA Redhead instead. I had one before and it was an excellent shotgun for the money. But for just a bit more, you can have this. The Fausti's are about to up in price due to the Canadian dollar drop. They're expected to hit the $1700 mark. I got mine for $1389.99. The CZ Woodcock is $999.99. For $400 more, you get a much nicer gun. Okay, its not as well refined as my Beretta was. They're a lot of sharp edges on this one but that will all wear in with time. The gun is tight and has a very positive lock up.

The only reason why I picked this gun over the CZ-USA is because of the fit. All of CZ-USA shotguns fit me very well. From the Mallard to the Redhead. My Redhead was a joy to shoot. But when I shouldered this Fausti, eyes closed, I open my eyes and every single time, my eye is lined up with the bead. The only issue is I'm slightly looking down onto the rib but not by much.

I really can't wait to try it out. Today was the day the sporting clays range was open at VGC but I will have to wait until next week to try it. For now, I will just look at it, read the owners manual, and practice shouldering it.

Everything the gun comes with. This picture was taken fresh out of the box. I didn't even polish the receiver yet. The other pictures is after I gave it a wipe down and polished the receiver.

By the way, these three are the owners of Fausti.

It is a beauty !

From where did you purchase it?

Oh, and congrats on your recent engagement. Despite all the naysayer and bad jokes, marriage can be a wonderful thing. My partner looks startlingly similar to Ms. Fausti holding the SxS. She'll even come to the range and shoot a little. As long as she doesn't get better than me...who can complain? :p

Looks real nice.

I'm wondering what to look at in an O/U myself. I shot a Citori 725 Sporting and loved it but the price is way up there. I'd like to get my hands on a Cynergy to check fit, but I'm wondering just how much gun I need for trap?

I'd probably keep my 11-87 for 5 stand.

Used guns I'm not much into. Being left handed makes it a small enough world as it is.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to our future together. Many things to look forward too. She also comes out shooting with me once in a while. Shes not into shooting like I am but I admire her for coming out and not just trying it but also doing it again. She even comes out hunting with me however she gets cold quickly even when shes bundled up like the Michelin man.

I purchased the shotgun from Crappy tire. My first Crappy tire purchase. It was a strange feeling since I walked in, the guy checks my PAL, the guy gets me the gun, walks me down to the cashier, walks me out the store and away I go. No information was taken. All they did was make sure the guns serial number matches the box it comes in.

Looks real nice.

I was there the day before looking at all the over/unders they had. I held everything and I was very interested in the Cynergy. People think they look ugly but I like the way they look. However I shouldered the field model they had and the gun doesn't fit me.

Another great option (IMO) is the Citori Crossover target. I picked mine up for just under $2k all-in. I've only shot it once so far but I've loved it. On my very first round of trap ever, I scored a 20/25 :)

You would think that they could do better in this price range.

I'm not trying to be an ####### (maybe accomplishing it nonetheless, but not trying!). It's not the first high end shotgun to let me down. CSMC had me excited for years until I handled one at SCI. Then again, maybe I should have gone there before I went to H&H!
