Can anyone recommend a good powder for 150gr SSTs?

The Hodgdon reloading site only really recommends Accurate powder, which I've been having trouble finding.

Thanks,

Keith

A few of you mentioned CFE 223 and Win 748, those would be good option because I also reload 223 and would be nice to have one powder for both.

Having trouble finding either though.

Because of the extreme temps I may be hunting at (+30 to -40C) I've always used H4895 with SST's in .308Win.
I won't shoot at an animal past 500M with my .308 so the loads I've done are more than satisfactory for hunting: my 150's shoot .8MOA and my 180's shoot .65MOA.

Hoping to develop a load using 165's (seem to be harder to find on a regular basis than 150 or 180) as I lucked into 4 boxes of them and have similar luck. Lots of moose, bears and caribou taken with these 2 loads.

Let us know how you make out!

Good suggestions so far. I've mostly used medium speed rifle powders like Varget, W748, 4064 and RL15. Some relatively quick powders are also good in the .308 with 150 gr. bullets, like IMR3031 and Benchmark.

Imr 8208xbr is another good one for 308....have used it for a few cartridges that are in the burn rate range and its proven to work well....meters great also.

Actually, has anyone used H4350 for a 308 load? I use it for my 6.5 CM.

If you wanted info on H4350, you should have asked for it in your OP.

H4350 will work fine with your 150 grain bullets with a 45.5 grain charge of H4350, over CCI250 primers.

45.5 grains will give you a "compressed" charge.

It's actually to slow for light bullets in this cartridge and you may find your velocities getting some extreme spreads.
