A good price for this rifle?

I have a Remington Model 700 Mountain Rifle in .280, and I am thinking about selling it. It is about 15 years old, in excellent shape,tapered, blued barrel, about 6 boxes of ammo shot with it, wooden stock. It is a very light, excellent shooting rifle, well cared for. What do you think it is worth? Thanks!!

I'd venture $650-$700 with the ammo would be the upper end.

You're right. I mis-read, thinking it came w/6 boxes ammo.

It's a pretty desirable rifle, it is the hinged floorplate model and someone out there will want to AI it.

IMHO - $ 500 would be lots, bare gun, no scope.

Just bought a "NIB" .257 Roberts 700 Mountain for the same ....

If and when I decide to sell, there will be 27 8X10 color, glossy photographs, with pictures and arrows, and a paragraph on the back depicting the exact specifications!! Thanks to all replies!!

I paid 400.00 for mine,no scope and requiring a re-bluing due to condensation rust(minor).After some TLC this is probably my most accurate rifle.The value of yours without a scope I would also say 500.00. Brand new rifles of similar quality can be found for 600.00 these days,especially when WSS or Cabellas or Russels has them on special.

Id sell it for $600 minimum, rifles prices are on the way up...just look at SIR/Cabelas new price list. The 280 has quite a following and not offered in the cheap SPS/ Stevens route. I don't think you'll find a new .280 for under $750, I could be wrong though.
