Very neat little gun. I remember seeing these in the 80s. Would be interested in hearing how it performs.
Anyone stopped and thinked for a moment why he would need grease for a prohibited gun? He can't shoot it, so why lube it?
Because transport of 12.6 handguns is permitted, to a range, if you have valid ATT and a 12.6 PAL.
Any lube will work. I use 5W20 synthetic motor oil on all my pistols including my Automag III and LAR Grizzly and no galling whatsoever.
Frog Lube grease has been excellent in the hardware of my kitchen window. Seems fine on the guns I put it onto, but it has a pretty low melting point.
That's a neat little gun, Geologist! If you need another one, let me know. I haven't even taken mine to the range, and I doubt the previous owner, who bought it new, ever took it shooting either. Only one mag, the box ... some papers.
For miniature .380s, I prefer the locked breech action of my Mustang Pocketlite, which is smaller, lighter, has better sights and lots of mags available. Nobody wants to sell theirs though. I shoot a mag or two every six months or so ... that really doesn't warm up the Frog Lube too much.
Thanks gunzik. I really like mine. I need to find a spring for the safety as it doesn't lock in the safe position but is a range queen so no biggy.
I also posted about the Backup on The High Road and a US poster sent me three mags and wouldn't take any $ for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sent him the biggest bottle (1 litre) of top grade maple syrup I could find to say thanks.
So now I'm awash in the mags.
It is a great little gun and for what it was designed to do it is great.
Your US poster buddy contravened ITAR by sending you magazines. Unless of course he is a licensed exporter. I wouldn't go around telling too many people about that story.
^Don't do it, just keep walking.
No export licence is needed to ship from the US to Canada if the value is less than $500.

An explanation would be nice.
