The good old .45-70 Gvnt, of course!
Got my deer yesterday. It was a rainy day, so I took out my stainless TC Encore with .45-70 barrel. It was my first kill with that caliber, and I was impressed. The deer took a grand total of ZERO steps after being hit by the 325 grain bullet. A true "bang flop"! He was about 45 yards away, and 40 feet lower than my ground blind, that was on top of a rock outcrop. It was a quartering shot, that entered through the left shoulder, and exited on the lower right side of the rib cage. That deer just went down as if it had been hit by a ton of bricks.
Too bad I have to wait a whole year before I get to use it again!
