a group is working to ban grizzly bear hunting in the yukon as well

they re still a bunch of good people around trust me but we re less ... torontonians and vancouverites are trying to rules us.

Helps their cause that half the Yukon population lives in Whitehorse and likely work for the government one way or another.

I believe this is a good perspective of how things are here

Isn't that case everywhere in Yukon / BC? The biggest 5 employers where I live are all public service providers. Any private business, their biggest 5 customers are also all government. Until we drop our love of government, this is what you are going get.

Candocad.

on that one the number has decreased not increased ... but we have a bunch of geologists coming this year ...

I've given up looking at the Yukon. Too many NIMBYs, econazis, FN obstructionists and not enough infrastructure. All of the major deposits need to have roads built to them and how can that be done in Kanada with protesters just waiting to shut you down AFTER you spend $50 million US on making the discovery?

And any mine will have to be powered by diesel gensets so with C-69 hammering you for carbon offsets it's a non starter.

It's better to go somewhere with better political safety like Russia, Colombia, Mali or the Philippines..........

Because culling is inhumane or something? Because hunters don't finance the majority of conservation? This is getting stupid now, my six year old generates more applicable logic than some of these decision makers. FYI, she thinks I should go "Momo" hunting.

I don't know about Yukon, but in BC tag/license fees are general revenue. They are not earmarked specifically for conservation. There is a conservation surcharge that is, but its a small percentage of the overall money spent by hunters on licenses/tags.

One would need to have more than a few screws loose to invest money in this country.

We are spending $66 million US on gold exploration this year. Amount spent of that $66M US in Kanada?

$0.00

And that is a shame; we cannot all work for government... Mining jobs certainly are well paying but of course, that does not matter to urban folks, generally.
