A guy with 870 blinders on inherits a 1941, 16ga. Ithaca 37 yesterday **UPDATE**

I recently handled a friend's 12g Ithaca deerslayer and I was surprised with how light it felt in the hand and pointed, action was butter smooth. Look forward to putting a few rounds threw it, will have to keep my eyes open for one.

No disrespect but I'm the exact opposite- after owning and shooting them i don't know why anyone would want to shot one after shooting a nice wingmaster!:p

My experience with the only one I ever tried left me not ever wanting one no matter how well made they are! Between the light weight and drop at heel it kicked like a mule. And I wouldn't ever own a wingmaster again either. For me the only pump worth owning is a Model 12.

I had a more modern Ithaca with the removable barrel. The earlier ones like yours have excellent fit and finish. That gun is a keeper, especially modified choke

Most likely the smoothest pump made. I love them

Have you ever shot a Pre-64 Winchester Model 12 Pigeon Grade trap/skeet? They used to polish the working parts by hand on their pigeon grade target guns. Never shot any slicker pump in my life. The gun Herb Parsons used for his exhibition shooting was apparently really polished up at the factory for him?!

I had an Ithaca for a few years but gave it back to the son of its original owner. He never asked me for it, but I knew it meant a lot to him to have it back. More then it meant to me, sitting in my safe 99.66% of the year, getting used one day or so.

If I have a chance to get another one for a good price I wouldnt think twice about it. Good guns. I'd like one in 20g.
