I would really like either a hinged or adjustable tactical stock for my 870 but can't stand the pistol grip... is one available that has no pistol grip??

measure carefully. You most likely can't make a folded 12.5 gun stay at 26" overall. I know I can get the length with a 14" barrel and a cut down standard stock that reaches back more than a regular pistol grip. Lose an inch and a half and I doubt you will find any way to have a legal folder.

And to answer your question, I can;t think of any stock that fits your description. Not saying there isn't one out there though

Guys... let me backtrack for a minute.. don't get sidetracked by the barrel length. My QUESTION is... is there a folding or adjustable stock that does NOT have a pistol grip?? Don't go off on tangents here.

It would be pretty easy to fabricate ,or have fabricated, a hinged adapter and maybe you could adapt an existing hinge and lock from say a VZ58?
Remington makes a system where you can quickly remove the rear stock for storage or to change stocks. For some reason they don't sell it outside of their Police package that includes items not easily exportable from the US.

It would be cool if Remington made it available but it would be just as cool if someone up here CNC'd a Canadian version!

I doubt there are any.

Anyway, pistol grip buttstocks start getting a lot more comfortable to shoot when they're pulled into the shoulder firmly from the front of the pistol grip, instead of using the grip to try to push the gun away, which just gives the gun a running start into your shoulder and hurts your hand/wrist as well.

What??!! You no want a hijacking? LOL!

I have never seen a stock like you want, and I have looked because I would like something similar. The best suggestion I have is one of the AR style stock adapters like the Mesa tactical. Then you can choose from an endless variety of AR grips, some of which have a more natural shaped grip instead of a straight up and down angle.

That's what I'm thinking given there is nothing available. I have a shop and a design/fabrication background with a great deal of gunsmithing experience so I will most likely make my own. It's odd that nothing like this exists because I can't be the only one in the world that wants the advantages of a hinged/adjustable stock but dislikes the pistol grip.

Dlask has been making similar guns(with the shortened mag tube) and custom lugged barrels along with the mag tube extensions but they haven't come up with a quick change grip/buttstock adapter.

I haven't seen the MCS setup in person but I'd love to hear how the quick change system works and how solid it is when mounted.....

i believe i have seen pictures of government issued rifles with a hinged full stock for use in northern Canada. it would make a good project for some one as you could use a short bolt in the stock and hinge it just beyond that point .

What model is this?

Hell I'd even like to get my hands on the damn case. Looking at the stock, it looks like a push button ball detent release

there are a few videos of the mcs being configured in different ways but i have seen nothing that shows the stock and grip up close so that you can see how it is fastened .it looks to be a pin system over a fixed extrusion on the back of the receiver but that is just a guess .

I found a picture today. It is a dovetail, male on the receiver, female on the stock with a lynch pin locking them in place. I actually called remington about the case. The entire system is LE and military only including the case(which is $225)
