A Husqvarna fit for a king?

What is an "elg" rifle? Very nice either way!

Elg is swedish for Moose

My Dads parents were Swedish and as I 'seem' to recall, the name for Moose in;
Danish/Norwegan --- elg
Swedish ------------alg
German ------------ elch
Wish I had put more effort into learning more of the language  rather than just some of the 'coarse' language phrases.

Swedish älg means moose. The ä is pronounced with a short e sound when followed by two consonants. Egg=Ägg. They sound identical.

Red deer are called kronhjort (crown deer) in Swedish.

Man alive! Those are some nice rifles! Makes my pile of old lamp stands look like... Lamp stands.:p

I really like that pic of Johnn and his daughter. A classic picture to be handed down the generations. :)

:)Thanks kjohn. In that photo with my Daughter, the rifle I used for that first AB Mule Deer hunt on draw was my Dad's model 4000 light weight in 30-06. One of the last times Dad used it was on our last Moose hunt together many years prior.

That Bull I dropped with a Marlin 444S and handloads using the Hornady 265gr. FP.

Olie chit.............just noticed the GSP in this photo.
Also noticed yer pah with that, "Yer gonna pack this fur owt the bush", smile..........

On that trip, we were based out of our cabin at Bowron Lake. My wife and Mum were there as well and Ace, the GSP was there for a few afternoon Ruff Grouse shoots. A good, successful and a memorable last Moose hunt with Dad.
Oh, we built a bit of road, put chains on my Brother In Laws Land Rover;), to 'pack' out the Moose.

I could hunt that, though I would try to ditch that godawful bolt knob. I am guessing 9.3x57?
Yep, a '57 with a like- new bore. Obviously, not shot much.

I love the low scope set-up on the rifle, but would swap out the Carl Gustav target bolt knob for a small steel unit. I have a nice Weaver 2.5x that will go on my HVA 46a in 9.3x57 once I fashion a new bolt handle for 'er.

Without seeing the crest on the stock up close, I can't say that it was fixed up for royalty. Royal folk tend to have their goodies far more embellished. These rifles are a joy to carry in the field. Good score Ted.:)

It's not mine. Belongs to a good friend who has brought it from rags to riches, so to speak. He finds the bolt knob quite handy.

Looks like an old Weaver K 2.5 scope.

That's exactly what it is, Bruce, a first generation Weaver K2.5, from the same time frame as the rifle being manufactured. Doesn't even have turret caps on the adjustments! It is still bright and clear, and doesn't whimper a bit while helping put 286 gr bullets at well over 2200 fps into less than two inches at 100 yd.

Was at the range yesterday with my buddy who owns the rifle. We are heading out on a moose hunt next week, and he sighted in the rifle with Norma 232gr Oryx.

At $80 a box, the ammo must be fit for a king as well.

We'll see!

I also have a Husqvarna 1600 Lightweight (20.5" barrel), has a Schnabel fore stock. Checkered on both pistol grip & fore stock. Factory done for sure.

Ted took me the the owner of the rifle in question yesterday for something else, and then the rifle in question came up in our discussion…. I have yet to see it(first visit to that fellow’s place I did t want to go straight to its gun cabinet lol)!! Ted told me that if I was good he would bring me back there!!
