A little fun with the 17hmr today PICS!

took out my modded marlin 917v to blast a few rounds. used a steel stake to put a jug on for a target at 100 yards. was quite surprised when i saw what the bullets did to the jug after hitting the steel. could only find a couple pieces of bullets after about 40 shots or so...

i also shot a couple sparrows with the 17hmr. i wanted to take pics of the remains but couldnt find any :p

the jug. the bottom shoot n c target is half blown away. this was from one shot. bullet must have hit and somehow blew up back towards me putting a decent tear in the jug.

this last one was just for ####s and giggles;) from top to bottom:
-.22lr dynapoint from 20ft. didnt even leave a dent
-rem. 17hmr v max
-hornady 17hmr 20gr hollow point
-3 shots of hornady 17hmr 20gr hollow point

the hollow point went about 2-3x deeper than the v-max.

Nice tests. If you shoot something like a road sign at closer distances they just go right through them and leave a nice neat hole.

What I do is take the roadsign and stand it on a block of styrofoam and float it in the lake before I shoot at it. With a handgun. Without hearing protection. Or glasses. When I'm done, I just leave the bullet riddled corpse of the sign floating there for all to see and I speed home swerving from side to side as I drink my beer.

There, that should just about silence the net nannies........:p :eek:

I was just funnin' with the safety nazi's......;)

Our lakes are frozen all year round, of course.....and we have no roadsign cuz, well, we have no roads!

All the rest is true......;)
