A little Mosin advice needed

Hi again guys

I found someone locally who has a refurb then put away and never used 91/30.
Date says 1934 and it has a hamer/sickle and a wreath stamped on it.

I cannot even begin to describe how mint this is. The wood is super nice and it looks like brand new everything else.

He is asking 230.00 firm.

Is that a fair price to pay for this gun i fully intend to buy anyway?

Can anyone tell anything from the 1934/hammersickle and wreath?

The hammer and sickle with wreath is an Izhevsk Arsenal marking. One in good to very good condition would run $180 to $200, so $230 for mint condition is a good price. But you intend to buy it anyway, right?
 
A gun in front of you is worth what you are willing to pay for it.

That said, $230 for a mint rifle isn't bad at all isn't it.
 
In short, yes.
If you want a collectible as well as a good shooter, that Mosin is just right.
Sure, it will never have the ''being there, done that'' look of some Finn Mosins (some look like wrecks) but it was nevertheless the soviet army main battle rifle at a very critical moment and a classic in its own right.
Buy it!

Yes Howasan i plan on buying it anyway :) i just want to know if im getting ripped, and if so, by how much ;)
The extra 30 bucks or so is made up by piece of mind from getting a mystery gun off the net [not saying thats bad or anything]

Lou, indeed. The above and beyond price above average price is worth it when i can see and hold and smell and etc. in person.

i forgot to mention it has a hexagonal receiver
and a bayonet and strap and ammo pouches and some container of some sort.
 
You see them on the EE regularly for anywhere between $130 and $200, so $230 is a little on the high side. It was only a year ago that SIR was selling them in the same condition for $119. Chances are, they'll get some more at a similar price sooner than later. Also, if the dude has been hanging on to it for a few years, odds are he picked it up for $79 or somewhere in that neigborhood. If you don't mind paying him a profit, and you're happy with it, go nuts.

Nope. It was about half and half. I worked there for a while and saw the different batches come and go. All were absolute beauties.

Now the $750 Russian Capture P38's on the other hand...
