This has been in the famly for years. It's been hunted, used for targets and fondled alot. The irony of an Israeli K98 is something to appreciate as well. Hope you like the pics. Dave

It's there - you can make it out in the top pic. The stock is a 1950's Israeli replacement meaning the rifle is surely an IDF rebuild with mixmaster pedigree. They make good shooters though :)

Which 98 receiver is yours based on? IDF marked FN, ex-Nazi, or post-war Czech?

The reciver is a 1939 Erma that has 3 waffenamps on the right side and a heavily pinged out Nazi eagle on the left side. The person who pinged out the eagle really did a number on it. Can say I blame them considering the circumstances. 7.62 is stamped on the heel of the butt and the reciever.
I like the No 4 too. It's a 1944 Longbranch that is in excellent shape altough it isn't a laminate stock it does have some nice striping. Here's a littel bit better pic. Please excuse the large mushroom shaped object in the background.

I like 39 Erma workmanship :) I've got a matching 39 Erma receiver (just an action, not wood, barret, etc.) on a shelf at home that one day will be a fine 7x57 sporter ;)

A CA ex-IDF MG 34 had complete unaltered German markings. Clear and intact, next to the various Hebrew ones. The 98s I've seen had the markings defaced. I sometimes wonder where, when and by whom the marks were stamped out, whether it was done officially, in unit stores, kibbutz storerooms etc.
