For those who live in Vancouver area and not sure if you want a GSG 1911 .22, now there are a display sample at Blue-Line Port Coquitlam. I went Blue Line with my girls this morning, lucky enough to found out they have one display at the store. I and other three gunnutz got a chance to close example this pistol and was very please to say that it is a quality piece for the price, infact it is well worth the money. The gun has a nice smooth alloy flame and a steel slide. It looks like a little scale down full size but over all feel very comfortable to hold. action smooth and trigger pull surprising not heavy and has a clean break. The display gun has a pair of nice wood grip and is not a cheap made one, I am not sure the actual gun will be the same because GSG site list the basic one has plastic grip. either one is fine for me. The problem is the sale person( forgot his name ) said that GSG delated the shipment buy two weeks time, looks like will be here buy the end of the month.

According to information on the internet, by putting on a 45 top end it becomes a 45.
Might be difficult if it is smaller than a true 1911.

Have to see when mine arrives I guess.

Been wondering about that myself,I emailed German Sports Guns (GSG) to see what they said but haven't got an answer yet but is only been a few days. Would hop on one in a minute if it woud accept a centerfire slide :)

Im pretty sure I read somewhere recently that it will accept about 80% of normal parts and in that 20% that won't fit or work is putting on a bigger caliber conversion. I guess we shall see but that would be super awesome if you could.

I think the term that it will accept 80% of 1911 parts were refer to hammer, trigger or shear parts. Don't think it can take a .45 slide or mag on that gun. it looks quite slim but I could be wrong. but even it cannot convert into the other cal, I do happy to buy one when they arrive in our neighbourhood.

I'm not interested in swapping slides, but I ordered this gun in part because I wanted the same 'feel' as my Trojan. It would be a minor disappointment if the grips are thinner. Still, practicing basic gun skills for $50-$60 per 1000 rounds will make me happy. ;)

I'm not sure why the salesman says the delay is 2 weeks, they were supposed to get this shipment by the end of Feb. so that makes it 3 weeks at least. Still I think it'll be worth the wait.

Trigun, do you own a 1911 now? If not what makes you say that its smaller than a standard size 1911?

I don't have one but I did shot almost all made and design out there. Our range full of friendly gunnutz would more than happy for me to try their gun out. Anyhow even the sale person said that as well. Now for the price come with that quality is a steal.

Trigun....was that you at Blue Line Saturday? I was there around 11:30'ish after shooting at PoCo and was in a party of 3! The GSG 1911 is definitely slightly smaller and lighter than my .45 ACP 1911's. I agree that the GSG 1911 is a bargain and if it shoots as good as it looks, then the GSG will be a steal. :)

Well I got an email back from GSG and I quote "our system fits on each 1911, but our lower accept only our slide" SO much for that idea :( but you could use the slide on your full size if this is a little undersize or you could just use it as is and have fun :)

OK guys I've paid a visit today to BlueLine to see and feel in person the GSG 1911...
here is what are my personal conclusions:

The pistol it's visually 100% a 1911A1 model as pe dim and size (not smaller or thiner)

FRAME: frame made of cast aluminum one piece machined... BUT not much into fitting or interchangeable parts with original 1911 internals.

POS: the only parts maybe compatible are: grip safety, recoil spring plug, thumb safety, trigger, grips, bbl bushing, mainspring house.

NEGATIVE:
1-hammer has another dim and diff frame pin hole position, sear pin has a diff position too
2-slide stop has same position BUT there are another two extra pins for holding another part (block) inside frame (see SIGs models)

SLIDE it's made a little bit thiner on OD as a regular 1911 and is for sure made of a light metal (alu or zinc, I can't say for sure) has different color because is painted not blued like frame.
- firing pin and extractor are in a removable block and hold by a double pin in slide (see SIGs models)
- ejector is part of slide - not frame- and is removable when strip cleaning

Sights are small like on military model GI 1911 with three dot painted.
Mags are real heavy because are made of full cast aluminum and has the OD like one of 45ACP and inside mashined for a small spring and plastic follower to accomodate the 22LR round.
Generally it's a nice gun, but for sure will be NOT in my wishing list for a future 22 pistol!

Thanks for the detail report
So on the other word it is not a good buy right because I was told the slide is steel and the flame is alloy.....Hmm I may not able to learn any 1911 things with this gun?

GSG 1911 anticipated arrival now mid April according to Blue Line. They will be posting details here and on their site so no sense in getting cranked up yet.
