There should be a little flower icon. That is the close up function. Need that.

To prevent the flash from wiping out close up pictures, put a piece or two of white paper over the flash. That will tone it down. I have a old digital devoted to close up pictures for CGN. I have taped the paper in place.

thanks for the tip. i just looked and yes there is a flower option. :) there are so many different settings on this camera and i didnt know what to use. but now i know.

i retook a few for him :)

I must confess that I have a weakness for nice old Dominion cartridge boxes, as well as anything C-I-L. Also nearly everything else!!!!!:p I have several nice old Dominion boxes for .303 British and 8mm Mauser that I bought as a young man in the sixties. Some still have the fired brass with them. Back then, I had (and still have) a "Churchill" No.1 Mk.III and two 8 mm Mausers. I also have 30-30 boxes that I bought new back then for my brand spankin' new matched set of Canadian Centennials. Oh man, I've got lots of goodies!!:p

Kjohn, here are some powder cans.
Here is a top and bottom view of, probably my oldest and deares can. It is a nice metal keg and the brass screw cap has cut threads on the brass rim it threads onto. It is half full of powder and when we had this on the threads some months ago, I burned some powder and it acted perfectly normal.

Here's a bunch of old Dominion/CIL .22rf I bought in the '70s off the shelves of various ammo dealers around southern Vancouver Island. All were immediately wrapped in plastic wrap and stashed away. They're now living in retirement here on the big sandbar.

Most have some kind of colored overprint on them, such as the word "MUSHROOM," or "PLATED," and "HOLLOW POINT." Those words almost look like a rubber-stamped afterthought...

I think this was one of their classiest boxes ever produced. I'm happy I've been able to save them in their pristine condition. No two are alike, each is different from the others.

Best regards ~ ~ ~ mauser

Some really good pictures of ammo packaging, as it once was, coming out of the woodwork here!
Senior, you sure have a great collection of CIL boxes. They made so many subtle changes through the years and you have many of them.
No one yet has shown a box of CIL Bisley yet. This was, maybe even their first, 22 target ammo. I happen to know it came out prior to WW2.
