A lot of bad .22 LR?

I have shot a lot of different brands of .22 and have never found FTF a problem. Some of the ammo I shoot is 10 years old. I would estimate the rate is in the area of 1 in a thousand.
If I was getting anywheres near the number of duds some posters report I would look very closely at the rifle.

I guess i'm just lucky, or something. I bought 14 of the federal 550 bulk packs a year ago when they were on sale for $11. Of the 6-1/2 bricks that we've shot there has been not a single failure to fire, and no dented cases or misformed bullets.

Honestly, I've had more problems with a uncleaned .22 rifles then with the ammo they're shooting. Federal and dynapoint bulk packs are what I shoot in the 10/22 and cooey 64b. Everything goes good till the rifles start to get dirty. Might have a couple FTF or FTE but nothing to put me off buying 500rds of ammo for just a few bucks.

I've been using CCI mini-mags often and CCI sub-sonics recently, and they've been top-of-the-line performance for my .22s. I buy CCI whenever I can now. Unfortunately, crappy tire and wal-mart don't stock CCI. Well... crappy tire has the CCI .22 shorts, for whatever good they are.

The last 4 boxes of Winchester ammo, epert and dynopoints had about 20 duds per box, each dud was hit well twice. Remingtion Thunderbolts were just awful, with varying charges and lots of duds. I used 2 rifles and a pistol with the same result.

Coincidentally enough, I use my .22s for shooting popcans every chance I get.

You match your resources to the performance level you require. Anything else is uneconomic and a waste of said resources. At least, that's what they taught at MY engineering school.

I will keep buying "the cheap crap".

o_O why would you be needing "the cheap crap" if you graduated from an engineering school?? :stirthepot2:

i too have been very happy with dynapoints, i have a box of federal 36gr i will try out today if the rain lets up.

of the dyna's i have had only one deformity in approx 2000 rounds and maybe 6 squibs.

CCI Singers?! OH NO I HEARD THOSE EAT BABIES!

Or at-least destroy 10/22 chambers haha :)

So I've tried yet more ammo and I have to say, maybe it's my guns (10/22 & 22/45) but from what I can tell all of the Remington .22 LR ammo has VERY low quality, at-least what I can find they seem to make abojut 7 kinds and I haven't tried ALL of them, I won't put crazy barrel burners in my gun.

Federal seems to have proven itself to be the most reliable but my gun doesn't shoot terribly accurate with it. The Gold Medal being the best but the Champion is pretty good too, I didn't try the American Eagle because I didn't want to buy the value pack.

The CCI blue box standard velocity shoots better and is reliable-enough, the Blazer is about the same as the CCI blue box. I haven't been able to find any of CCI's higher end cartridges

Winchester is in the middle of the CCI and the Remington the Super X was ok and the Wildcat wasn't very good

And I re-state, the Remingtons I tried were all awful.

im been shooting remington thunderbolt havent noticed any bad bullets or brass but seem to have a misfire every 2nd box or so....:runaway:
