A-max for long range and hunting?

I use A-max bullets for long range shooting and they work very well, would this also make a good hunting bullet?

Its all about shot placement. If an arrow can kill a moose, then an AMAX can too. Just don't shoot it in the back end and expect a clean kill. Anything passing through the lungs or heart will kill it humanly.


Yes, I have taken deer with 7mmRM 162gr AMAX. It died humanly.

Can't say about other Amaxs but the 30 cal 208s and the 50 cal 750s both kill stuff DEAD, this is from direct experience.

Just keep an eye on impact velocity.

Amax work great at slower speeds common to longer shots. Not my choice for if expecting an impact speed over 2800fps.

They do , but alot of the long range hunting community , including myself have killed a TON of big game with them.

I know a guy who regularly uses the 75 gr A-max in his 223 Ackley, on deer and black bear. One shot, DRT, every time.

You just need to make a hole in the right spot, and you can kill anything....

I have used them as well, used 162gr 7mms and 178 gr 30 cals. I only used them on deer. Seemed to work like any other soft bullet and 7mm mag speeds.

Sounds like an expert to me, actually you are WRONG!!
With the wrong type of bullet a 50 cal can just as easily wound an animal and it can get away to possibly die at a later time, which most ethical hunters would not condone.
