Thank you great explanation on OIC’s
You clearly don't understand what I'm asking.
Youza.
I'm sorry, but "It's too hard to do from an administrative point of view" isn't much of an argument.
The Liberals have already said they would fix legislation to allow municipal governments to implement handgun bans, because the provinces can't be trusted to do it (too many conservatives) and the hippy-dippy mayors will do just about anything.
The real question is off-site storage. If the mayor of Toronto or Montreal bands handguns, can we store them outside city limits, possibly in a safe deposit box at a bank? I don't want to sell my collection at a loss.

I must be blind? I can only see BC and ON in the first post?
Just when you thought people couldn’t be more DENSE
Interesting looking at the date the thread was started and how pertinent it is today. The possibly misleading aspect of the whole premise put forward is looking back at the 90's and how easy it was to completely ban hundreds of firearms legally purchased, with no compensation to the owners. OIC's definitely worked then, and Im not sure why they wouldn't work now. No letters were sent out because they did not know who owned them. You just turned them in with no compensation. That is the reality of OIC's.
Plus now, add to the mix, municipalities getting to decide whatever they want. How does that even happen ? Don't think for a minute they haven't thought of the potential court challenges or legal ramifications of municipalities creating rules under federal jurisdiction. Shiitt show for sure.

Slow down. The passing of laws and regs that banned guns was easy. You will note that there is no evidence that any of the millions of affected firearms were ever seized. And the prisons arent stuffed to the rafters with the millions of gun owners who didnt comply.
The only reason why you think the gun bans under C68 was easy is because gun owners simply pretended it didnt happen and the government pretended it did.
