If only easily reached here in Canada. With CCI coming out with new vnt ammo as well...maybe savage could come out with a semi auto version.
January 2, 2019 – CCI has announced a new 17 Mach 2 ammo round, loaded with the same Sierra VNT bullet that was released last year in their 17HMR. This new 17HM2 ammunition solidifies another move towards keeping the 17 Mach 2 on the shelves for hunters and shooters of this devastating little rimfire round.

now that CCI is running some new HM2 ammo and volquartsen came out with a new rifle chambered in HM2 im keeping close tabs on the developments and really hoping that CZ will come back with an HM2 again.
im kinda kicking myself for selling my 452 in 17HM2.
it was the best squirrel rig I ever had.

I prefer the Mach2 over the magnum cased 17. I wish they would keep the price of ammo down..

.17HM2 is my favourite all-time squirrel round... my CZ 452 M2 saw many days in the field... I got spooked by the ammo shortage and sold it... big mistake... I regret letting it go.

I installed a .17 liner into a worn out 6mm center fire heavy barrel and chambered it for 17 Mach2 with a match chamber. Then I turned the barrel down lighter and fitted it to my 77-22. The first few test groups I shot were about 1/4 inch at 50 yards so I quickly stopped testing and sighted it in... I have used it to head shoot grouse at 75 yards and quite a few gophers back in Alberta. I know why you like it on squirrels... I still have close to 1000 rounds of Hornady I bought back when they were $8 a box.

My experience too... I mounted a Volquartsen Muzzle-Weighted 17 HM2 barrel to a 77/22, it was a tack shooter, also had a stock M77/17 HM2 at one point, two CZ 452 .17 HM2's and I souped up a Savage MKII HM2 aswell... they were all very accurate... I have told the story on here before, where I was sighting in one of my .17 HM2's when three grouse walked out of the bush and began feeding on grass seeds along the private gravel farm road. I had to initially ignore them and continue sighting in, but once I had the rifle zeroed, the grouse were spread out from 75 - 90 yards... with three consecutive shots I nailed three eyeballs and they were all down and the first was still flapping when the third went down. Wonderful round! I have made some of my best head shots on squirrels with HM2 rifles too.

I can see where this is going... I appear to be talking myself into another HM2 rifle...

I had a left handed one once. I managed to find about 2,500 rounds and shot A LOT of gophers with it. Originally I got it in hopes of shooting muskrat, no exit out of thr skull and then could sell them for good money. However, the fur market tanked and ammo got harder and harder to find do I got spooked and sold it.... But now maybe I regret it... If the cartridge ever takes off again I would probably get another.... Within 50 yards it did everything my 17hmr did but for 1/2 the price

I have a .17 Mach liner barrel, and I was thinking on who use to build me a nice bolt action hunter in my favourite rimfire calibre.

Looks like I have found the person?

Candocad.

Id love another 17 mach2 rifle. I have a hb savage pre accutrigger. Very accurate but i get the odd neck crack which makes extraction a pain.

What would ball park pricing be to reline a barrel with a 17mach2 liner?

Ive spoken with hornady several times and they promised to not let it die out however during the rimfire crisis they couldnt meet demand for 22lr so didnt make any. They did a huge run late last year and i got some backorders filled

I have owned five 17mach2 rifles, the two Coopers were the most accurate and the Ruger 77/17 was the least accurate. The 10/22 conversion, and the Marlin were in between. I added a Green Mountain barrel to the 77/17, and the groups were half the size, better than the Marlin, and about equal to the 10/22 conversion. I just wish Eley still made ammunition for the 17mach2, my Cooper shoots it better than the Hornady. I bought 25,000 rounds of the Eley when it was still $6.50-$7.00 per box, and I still have close to 15,000 rounds left.
