The latest prototypes of the future polish service weapon, the MSBS-5,56 (Modulowy System Broni Strzeleckiej kalibru 5,56 mm), are looking very nifty.

The MSBS-5,56 family is being developed by Radom's Fabryka Broni Lucznik and the Military University of Technology (WAT). The core component of the family is a common upper receiver. Components will be able to be added or removed in order to turn it into a carbine, assault rifle, designated sniper rifle or light machine gun. What differentiates it from the latest generation assault rifles such as the FN SCAR, Bushmaster ACR and Beretta ARX is that it can be configured in either a traditional or bullpup configuration.

Not pictured is the GPBO-40 underbarrel and GSBO-40 stand-alone grenade launchers which are being developed alongside the MSBS.

[ Many thanks to REMOV for sending me the photos and information. ]

curious to now how it can be configured from a rifle to a bull pup.

I'm guessing the upper reciever is common to both, and you swap out lowers depending on what you want.

Heavy on the GUESSING.;)

Perhaps an unCanadian conversion stock is involved. With a coathanger thingy for the trigger. You could have a mix in the squad, that would work. The conventional SCAR-like looks interesting if there is a factory semiauto.

If it is configurable, we probably won't see it. If those are two different chassis, then we have hope.

Since it can be installed in both configurations on a bullpup and normal lower doesn't that make the bullpup lower a prohibited device?

Hummers are ugly but serve a purpose, who gives a rats ass what it looks like, guns a meant to serve a purporse and it as NOTHING to do with looking nice.

I guess it would depend on whether or not the upper is considered able to fire without the stock.

Not to be an A-Hole but I don't know if I would want anything Polish made when it comes to firearms. Not dissing the Polaks on this site just that when I think of great thing's that Polaks make firearms are not even in my mind. I think I would have to mark this 1 up to "Try before I would buy"

Poland has a pretty adavnce manufacturing sector. Boeing and other manufacturers have them doing large packages relating to Nato mil orders.

I thought the polish AK's were supposed to be good... Radom's had a decent rep. too IIRC.

Maybe this will help you visualize it:

Very neat system, I was tinkering with a similar concept a few years ago. I will assume the upper is the serialized portion since it is the common piece. If that is the case, I can still see this thing working. Since the upper can't be fired without the bullpup lower attached, I could still see it being legal. If the lower is the firearm, then we are home free.

However, you never know with those crooks at the RCMP.
