A new Glock Carbine from Microtech Small Arms?

Hrm....

I'm thinking of doing some measurements on my Glock this weekend and seeing what kind of extruded aluminium would fit around it....that looks like a *FUN* project.

MUCH funner than a mec-tec CCU.

The MSAR will be prohib.....

It is "based" off of the STG556 (or whatever they call it) which is based off the Steyr AUG.

Even though it is a pure blowback design, it will probably be close enough in "looks" and parts commonality that it will be prohibited.

Too bad, I really wanted to get one when I first heard they were coming out :(

are we sure the 9mm will be prohib ? i read somewhere it is a complete new design, just looks like aug,

i too would love one of these, and would buy one in a heart beat

can anyone confirm the classification. with fact , not just because it looks like the stg556,
and also the stg556 ,has nothing to do with the aug, microtech completely redesigned it. which sucks ,cuz we should be able to own one.

If they considered the GSG-5 as a Prohib, the Microtech almost guaranteed will be.

I would do just about anything for one in .45ACP (rather than fabbing my own parts to get a decent USC to UMP conversion, since parts are non existent), but unfortunately, they will look at it the STG556, and say "hmmm, even though its a little different, its pretty much an AUG" and PROHIB that, and then say that the pistol cal version was "designed" off of that.....

If anyone wants to try, I have heard that Microtech is trying to get them to cost under 1000 dollars US (since its a simple blowback).....

yup, 990 usd (without scope sights)

still with all the added no costs to sell up here, there would be no problem selling them.

it would be a shame, that if its prohib, for stupid reasons like most things in this country, but i would like to push this one ,

also just another update, its going to a multi caliber gun .all you have to do is change the barrel, magazine, magazine sleeve (which is included ) and barrel bolt ( or something like that). they want you to have any caliber you want , out of the same gun.

I think you're all forgetting that Steyr invented the AUG-9, this is not a new idea. There was a conversion kit for the AUG, which had some problems, so then they came up with a specific AUG-9 version of it to compete with the MP5. Both of them used the old MPi-69 mags. I had one of the kits when I lived in the US and I also had a deac AUG-9 when I lived in the UK.

The newer rails are better option. Australia has even opted to replace optics with rails for versatility in optics choices NV etc:

Think the MSAR offers more utility and probably cheaper than the original European manufacturers if you factor US import laws etc.
Good product for their market.

well that would suck, if they based the msar 9mm , on the aug 9mm, because then it will be prohib for sure, but i specifically remember reading somewhere that they made there own system, because first they wanted it to be very easy to change caliber, second they wanted to use glock mags, for reasons i dont really need to mention, but if anyone can think of a mag, thats better to use , please try. so technically its a glock with a really cool stock, a 16inch barrel, and im also 100% sure that the firearm can not function without the stock, hence the bullpup rule.

btw, i know microtech/msar has not put this "mcs" on their website yet, does anyone have anymore information (links) to the release,

Based on your definition, my Berreta CX-4 Storm should have been prohib. It was only originally restricted, however, and now it's a non-restricted with the longer barrel.

FYI. ;)
