I can see why the younger crowd generally doesn't buy the more expensive guns these days...

I had a 783 come to the house in 243 the other day. Looking forward to trying it out.I can only guess that one in 243 or 270 would shoot even better.

Got another Patriot in 300 Win today. Going to wring it out to see if the first one was just lucky.
Installed another Burris FF II, this one with the Ballistic Plex reticule, mounted with Talley one-piece lightweight rings. Might as well start off with decent sight system.

Went to the range with the second Patriot today. Bore sighted it, took two shots at 25 yard to confirm, then shot a 1 1/4 inch group at 100 yd. Hit exactly three inches high.
Not bad for -20C with 25K wind, and the very first load tried.

Can hardly believe I'm doing this, but just bought a brand new 300 Win mag that weighs exactly 6 1/2 pounds. Why did I do this!
Obviously it's not my preferred blued steel and lovely walnut, but it cost only $400 plus taxes. Care to guess what it is?
Put a 3-9X40 Burris FF II on it today, then loaded five, 3-shot test loads, using180 gr Hornady SST plinkers. Will report back...
What is going on with me? There is so much plastic in this gun, so embarrassed, heading to the range early in the AM to check it out before anyone else gets there.

They are Plastic..... If you;re one of those who Points out on your Friends rifle about little Plastic Bits then this rifle is not For you....
if you can over see the plastic, think of it as a tool with pretty spiral bolt fluting then you may just be happy with Yours
