A new old No4Mk1








Thanks to a CCNer(points) I was able to get my savage put back to a matched facsimile. I was put in touch with a great restorer and he assembled it. Thanks again for all the info. Hope you like it as I do.

Hi Emmab. Your rifle does not need a waisted foresight protector or a hinged front band. The rear sight that is presently on the rifle is a
British sight so if you wish to be a tad more correct you replace with a Mk I screw adjustment sight (also called a Singer type) made by Savage
or the 2 position Savage made battle sight (which would be my 2nd choice). JOHN
 
It need the low cut too for trial mag cut-off plate, also a grooved rear handguard.

a 'proper' Savage wood forestock will be the hardest part to find.

you may need to make do with a forestock made for a Mk1* and cut out the relief for the bolt release yourself.

I have a similar rifle, a little earlier production 0C5### but it was converted to the Mk1/2 standard, so any parts might have been proper.
