A 300H&H bbl would be very fitting for the magnum bolt action. Blued bbl with original sights and a Leupold M8 4x in Weavers.

That would be a Fudd's dream come true.

If it's been reblued whomever did it did a helluva good job with the polishing. Lettering is still crisp, corners not rounded off. The stock seems to be an oil finish, rather than the varnish it would have originally.

I remember those Kodiak rifles in an old gun values book I used to have. I thought they were cool then and wanted one in 375 magnum.

That 725 would be a great custom project. 300 brass is getting hard to find and when you do, it's expensive. I'm using a bit of 375 necked down in mine.

Dan, barrel it up to 358 Norma Magnum. You will have a twice-unique great hunting outfit!

I have one in 30/06 that I got from Rembo a few years back . It's probably my favourite hunting rifle . It's not as pristine as yours , someone installed a recoil pad on it at some point . To be honest , I don't care , it's a great rifle .

I don't think that finish is factory. It's too nice.

Edit: I'll elaborate: that finish looks to be hand ribbed oil done with care. 50s factory varnish is usually pretty distinctive.

I have a couple in the safe, chambered in 358NM. Admittedly while I haven't used either in the field yet, I hope to correct that give one or both some field experience in the not too distant future. The first I acquired is a model 1651 Husqvarna and the other, a model 68DL Schultz & Larsen.
