A non-restricted AR-15 alternative

seeing as how i didnt want any rails on my foregrip i just modified a magpul MOE carbine length.

I take it, OP, you're a lefty? Any interest in lefty mag release? I'm working on one. Wont be ready for a bit as my garage is not heated and i hate milling in cold.

Yeah, I'm a lefty, and I was working on an ambi mag release but couldn't get it to work properly. Let me know what you do for yours. I'd love to make one work.

Should I be asking about your 10 round SKS?

Yes you should. You can legally build one. There are a few of us here on CGN that have had success with the Mag- Adapter. There a bunch of info posted in previous threads "how to" builds.

Where did all the plastic keltec haters go?
I remember buying the 22 and 16 and everyone said it was junk.
Even some owners were unhappy with Vault and warranty.
There was a thread with broken receivers too iirc.
Funny how things change.

Good post.
I am one and I own 1 LOL.
I seen the pistol version break apart at the range last year. He was using 556 ammo. Don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I haven't used it in mine and haven't had any "breakage" issues with mine "YET". I am not convinced that mine wont break somewhere down the road. Time will tell.

OK, went and checked out the source at ktog.org. The pic is not of a functioning unit but is a one-off output from a 3D printer. The company posted it to gauge interest from Kel tec owners. So the verdict is: not now or anytime soon.

@ little_airwolf: Nice thing about the CASV-M is that all you need to do is undo 2 screws and the whole system slide off in one piece. The added bonus is you don't have to remove your optics so you don't lose your zero, well, as long as you re-mount it exactly where it was before. This rig as it is has proven to be dead accurate at 100 yards.

My SU16 (SU16FX) has the front sight built into the gas block. Do you think the CASV-M would clear it?

I figure it probably would.

cool... perched with credit card! unless cerebral wants to part with his FX :)

Hey man, i've tried to find all the parts for it but really, I don't think its easy to order the stock adapter and compact forend for it anymore. I can give you a list of what I have but as for where to buy and how much I may be at a loss for you.

I called Kel tec about this ,last summer. The tech ( Chad) said the SU 16 is chambered in 5.56. But is stamped .223 for export reasons. I was wondering ,if this is the case , then why dosnt RA have to do the same ,with there XCR-L.

The last time I spoke to Robinson Arms I was told that all their ".223 Remington" marked barrels are actually chambered in .223 Wylde which was developed to handle both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO. You might want to confirm this with Wolverine Supplies who is the sole RA Distributor for Canada...

The CASV-M should clear it no prob. There's enough of an angle at the front of the stock pieces that it shouldn't interfere. It goes together kind of like a clam-shell, just loosen off the two screw at the back where the hinge pieces are and pinch the pressure tabs together at the front and it swings open. The rail piece itself has a side angled piece like picatinny rings that tightens onto the existing receiver rail with two screws so the whole install would be pretty simple.

The only cutting I did was to make notch big enough in the bottom rear of the stock to clear the chamber area. After that the whole barrel assembly is completely free-floated.

Hey guys here the new prototype Kel-Tech is working on. Its still rough but it follows the Kel-Tech philosophy:
