Looking for feedback on price. I am thinking of putting it up on the EE.. Or maybe keeping for one of the girls..

Built three similar to this, but this one has box elder maple burl wood with about 8 coats of tru oil.

-1924 manufacture date, was a dirty scratched up parts gun, barrel and action.
-take down conversion
-larger loop lever (ss304)
-ss barrel bands
-marbles bullseye sights (waiting for one component in mail)
-polished internals, sanded and reblued
-eyelet on side for saddle ring, not factory but doesn't rattle



And the leather takedown bag, buckskin and sheep shearling, has space for ammp box, includes emergency shelter (silver plastic bag), magnesium fire starter, safety whistle and flagging tape. Room for something large like a scope, folding pull saw and knife in the middle, I think I'd want $350 or so to include it but it makes a perfect little kit.

Cool, I have a factory rear sight but was gonna do the marbles bullseye, but the buyer can pick what they want.

I have my grandfathers 30-30 as well, a plain Jane post 64 with the same mods and some leather, that’s all the 30-30’s I need and it can get passed down to the kid if they are keen on it. Basically it’s really fun and unique but more fun as a project than to keep.
 
Nice kit... but not my thing... couldnt tell you value.

To me? $650 for the lot. But If it had sentimental value much higher.
 
Well, $650 is way less than expected but thanks for the input this far..

The price of 94’s seemed to jump up lately, for instance a post 64 (72 made plane 94 for $620), a couple others for $500 and $525, and a pre 64 for $700.

I think they are headed up in value like some of the inflation we seen with other stuff in the past, or maybe it will drop post election in the US, but it does seem like you could catch a 94 once in a while for 300-350 if you waited patiently years ago, and they floated around 400-450 for most of them. Now they seem to float around 5-600.

Nice work man...its just a shame that this is going to be comparable to restoring Datsun cars...not a lot of return for the effort I think (but I think the $650 recommendation is an insult here).

You made some very utilitarian changes to the 94 along with the custom stock (even tho it isn't a "perfect fit"). I especially like the sling option barrel band ( a # of 94 owners have asked me if there is such a mod available over the years) but find myself wondering why you would put it on the opposite side of the gun than the saddle ring is on...seems like a natural to want both on the same side with a "custom short sling".

My take on pricing this, is that if a new Maruko is $1700-plus (just looked at on 2 weeks ago) then yours cant be worth any less.
 
That bag would fetch $150-$200 plus the wood premium and other details, I'd put it closer to $1000. Much more than that and one can buy commemorative new in the box one which will go up in value. Something like this won't continue to rise in value because in the end, it's a beautiful looking shooter. That's just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.
 
Other than being a takedown, not a factory one at that. It’s just a pre64 with a bunch of mismatched parts and a bright stock. The seller would be lucky if someone bought it on a whim for anything more than a average condition pre 64.
 
Again, appreciate the comments good and bad, in terms of mismatched parts, all the internals are from original, and were sanded, polished blued. I’ve got some original barrel bands from another, sights and original lever too.. Barrel and mag tube aren’t the original ones I believe. Just to follow up on the mismatched parts comment.

If you gonna hunt something though, and want to have room for gloves in the fall the loop is nice, and I much prefer the bullseye sight, it’s how I believe a 94 should be modded to use and abuse I spose and not necessarily for collector value.
 
I made it, well made a CAD file, had it cut (waterjet) and sanded it to shape. Did the front to match. Same for the larger levers, made a bunch and had them up for sale at one time but sold only a handful.
 
Considering there's parts that aren't blued, open screw holes, the stock doesn't have a butt plate fitted. 650$ for the set isn't far off.

Remedy those and 1000$ isn't unreasonable
 
All parts are blued, 3 are stainless. The plug screw for the saddle ring on order.

Not sure about the butt pad. I’ll figure it out, but got time.
