In the course of developing our own mount we came accross a small tidbit of information that some of you shooters many find useful/interesting. The barrel of every Nork M14 we've seen is tapered, in other words the outside diameter is thicker at the receiver end gets smaller towads the muzzle. While we cannot speak for all barrel mounts but the Ultimak and UTG mount don't account for this so the mound doesn't follow the line of the bore but follow the line of the taper.
I noticed this when zeroing the scope on my Ultimak but didni't give it much thought at the time. Windage was right on but elevation had to be adjusted rather significantly.
What does this mean for the average shooter? Maybe nothing, depending on the scope you use, the ranges you shoot at etc.
Mods if you think this info is woth keeping then please kindly add it to the Scope FAQ.
