Okay M1 Garand and parkerizing lovers:
zxcvbn dropped by with a re-park project for me and we also rebarreled his HRA shooter. Yeah, the finish was rather worn and lack luster having been owned likely by some semi-literate combatants who have never downloaded my
M14 Clinic DVD's and ignored the care these boomsticks so desperately need.
So when zxcvbn approached me, I thought, "We gotta do pictorial of this project!"
Some thanks are in order first: 6167 for his kind work bringing us all kinds (he sources this stuff well) of M1 Garands, next to Paul Johnson of www.pjsproducts.com for the Radocy Parkerizing solution. It makes a hero out of us, just judge the pictures for yourselves!! We look good!
Gather up you materials before doing this project. It was facken expensive sourcing out all the Aerospace Grade instruments! Have a look at the original finish of the metalwork after we degreased the metal work....
Closeup of the receiver and the HRA bolt. Did I get the email addy of pjsproducts and their website? A shameless plug for Paul!
You might lose yer #### if you don't source the correct AeroSpace Grade NASA approved stainless tongs, tank, and AZN influenced Engineered tongs. The Heat Source is a specially ordered radiant prototype from the Nuclear Field of Research. (really, just the Dollar Store)
Check out my 870 barrel cut down to 18" and then bead blasted by my Secret Bantario Based Gunsmith! This is all before dropping it into the parkerizing tank.
Here is the receiver and bolt AFTER rinsing, drying, and cooling, then oiling. Check out the TRW Black colour resulting. This Radocy solution makes us look like heroes! Boy is my self-esteem on top of the world!
Check out the rest of the M1 Garand parts after oiling!
Now look at this HRA bolt after we dried off the rinse water from the tank process. I'm so proud! I know that zxcvbn is totally pumped after this project!
Here is the assembled HRA project after we installed the Krieger Criterion .308 barrel. It swallowed up my Clymer Pull Through Finish Reamer and we knew right away we were good to go!! Headspace will likely mic around 8 to 10 thou, I'm predicting... will get back to all of you after we test fire soon....
Here's the front end of the M1 .308 barrel job!!
So for those of you who bought some Citadel barrels from Epps in Orillia/ Washago in the past month of May/ Jun 2009 (they had 6 of them)... the offer still stands. For a Kelsey's steak, we'll do your M1 Garand project!!
Yeeeaha!!
Peace be to jouney!!
Barney
