A pic for huntinstuff and James

Awesome pics! That thread of heritage is so special, something that people uninitiated to the hunting and outdoors fraternity find difficult to appreciate. We are all the ancestors of capable hunters. Well done Noel;)

Thanks guys for all your kind words. I want to be sure I can pass on our heritage to the generations to come so I pour over this stuff quite a bit.

There will be a big bash at Uncle Reuben's come July 1st in recognition of his farm being in the family for 100 years. The little shack he stands in front of is the Blacksmith shop from circa 1920. He helped his Dad build it too!
My old Savage he is holding there is from 1907 too. I hope to nail a Whitetail at his place this fall. Just for nostalgia.

He gave me his Father's Steven's favorite and his old Remmy pump that he shot the barrel out of to put food on the table. I brought them up to take some photos with him. He almost teared up when I handed him his Dad's gun. I guess there are others who are as sentimental about things as I am. It was a special moment. We both know full well he isn't going to be around a whole lot longer so he is more than happy to stand in front of the lens.

Well if no one else is going to post some pics, I may as well pass a couple more on. Found this on the weekend, Leif's hunting license, note the year and the price!

In the box of stuff I brought home, I had tossed in one of his notebooks (he had tons of them for taking notes and keeping his hours for work).

I didn't know why I grabbed it but upon checking it out, he has records of some of his purchases from 1930 through to 1936.
He was buying 41 Swiss ammunition! Now I know where I get my craving for odd chamberings!:p I don't know anything about the cartridge but I will soon!:)

He also has written that he purchased "253 shells" in 1932. the price is separate. Also in 1930 he was buying 2505 and 228 ammunition. What the heck is this stuff? I've never heard of this stuff before!
