About a year ago I bought a sweet BLR from Doug for my left-handed daughter. She however found it too light and whippy so I ended up buying her a left-handed bolt-action from another member of GunNutz.

Anyways .............. Doug had mentioned he wanted a picture of my kid with a big mulie takes with the little BLR. When I mentioned to him that I had bought Jill another rifle he offered to buy the rifle back. I declined as I had come to love the little rifle for packing up and down the Fir ridges I hunt. Doug then said he wanted a picture of me with a mulie taken with the BLR. I still think he should have stuck with wanting a picture of my kid rather than one of my old mug! LoL

Anyways here is your pic Doug.

3 hours ago this fellow was chasing does until I slipped a 165 grain Hornady BTSP Interlock between his ribs from ~150 yards.

The area you live in is known for big bodied deer, and here is an example of a fine one!

what cal is the BLR

.308 Winchester. It is a pre-81 with the drop-down mag and steel receiver.

The load it likes the best is a 165 grain Hornady Boatail Spire Point loaded to 2500 fps over IMR 4064. The little thin pencil barrel on the rifle heats up fast but it will always put 3 quick shots into 1 1/4" at 100 yards from a cold barrel.

Hi Booner!

This is the second BLR I have owned. I used to own the same rifle in .358 and it was a smooth as butter to operate but the darn thing beat the crap out of me.

This .308 is also smooth as glass and I found that it would shoot groups worthy of a bolt action once a plastic shim was placed between the fore-end and the barrel. Some of these rifle like to be free-floated as much as possible but sometimes a little pressure works better.

As for the jambing ..............
that is usually a problem with the feed lips on the magazine. I bought a copy of the original Browning service manual for the BLR off of E-Bay and most of the publication deals with timing the magazine for proper function.

I usually gut mine before I bring them home, nice deer.

I was less than 10 min from home and it was -9c.
The lure of warm water to wash up with was too much to resist! ;_

From the time I shot it to the time it was hanging, skinned and gutted was less than 45 min. That is one of the good things about living close to the middle of nowhere! LoL

Gary; nice rifle, the buck is OK, and you are as handsome as you were the first day that you showed up at the first "Haggisfest" with that "Fu*%@!*&^ing"goose gun of yours !!!

Even when I screw up and screw in the imp. cyl. choke in that old BPS I can still shoot trap as well as most of the others who showed up! (I ain't saying I am good, only that most of the others were that bad! ;) LoL )
